Kyongwha Chung is an Of Counsel of Covington’s International Arbitration Practice Group. Ms. Chung represents both states and corporate clients in complex international disputes, drawing upon her expertise in public international law, investment, and international trade. She serves as counsel before numerous international tribunals and advises on commercial and investment treaty cases. She has represented clients in international arbitrations under the HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, KCAB, JCAA, ICSID, and UNCITRAL rules. Her practice spans a range of jurisdictions and industries.
Ms. Chung is a regular speaker and writer on various topics in international arbitration, mediation and investment treaty disputes. She authored the Korea chapter in International Handbook on Commercial Arbitration edited by ICCA (2018), participated in the drafting process of the Korea chapter in the Asia Arbitration Handbook edited by Michael Moser (2011) and the full-length treatise on arbitration in Korea, Arbitration Law of Korea: Practice and Procedure (Juris Publishing, 2012). Ms. Chung is dual-qualified as a Korea attorney and a United States (New York) attorney. She received her law degrees (B.A. and M.A.) from Korea University and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School where she received Roger Fisher and Frank E.A. Sander prize for her thesis.
WOOJAE KIM is a Korea-licensed attorney and member of Bae, Kim & Lee, LLC’s International Disputes Group, which he joined in 2013. Prior to joining BKL, Woojae was a member of Lee & Ko’s international arbitration practice, and served as a judicial officer for three years.
Since beginning his practice, Woojae has acted as counsel in numerous arbitration and litigation disputes. His experience covers major international commercial arbitration, cross border litigation in foreign courts, and Korean civil litigation. He has also frequently provided pre-litigation/arbitration claim analysis and advice. An increasing proportion of Woojae’s practice is now focused on construction and investment treaty arbitration.
Woojae received his legal education at Yonsei University (LL.B., 2005), and the Judicial Research and Training Institute (2009). He recently completed an LL.M. program at Stanford Law School.
Young Suk Park is a partner at KL Partners (Seoul) with a broad and diversified experience in both international and domestic disputes and transactions.
He was the general counsel and an executive director of the investment committee at Atinum Partners, a Korean investment house, being involved in investments and transactions, encompassing a variety of sectors, such as energy, natural resources, real estate, buy-outs, start-ups and public equity.
Prior to his position with Atinum Partners, Mr. Park was a partner with Kim & Chang’s international arbitration & cross-border litigation practice group. At the time, his practice focused on international arbitration, involving multiple ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, such as with the ICC, SIAC, KCAB, NAI and ZCC. He was also involved in investment treaty disputes under the ICSID Convention and NAFTA as well as cross-border litigations in multiple jurisdictions.
Kellie Yi is Counsel of HKIAC and Chief Representative of Seoul Office.
Prior to joining HKIAC, Kellie was a Registered Foreign Lawyer at Allen & Overy’s international arbitration team based out of the Hong Kong office. Kellie also worked as senior in-house counsel at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea where she managed international arbitration and cross border litigation as well as transactional work. Kellie also previously worked at an international law firm in the U.S. and clerked for Hon. Judge Harold R. DeMoss Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Kellie’s experience in international arbitration spans Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia as well as all major institutional rules and UNCITRAL proceedings. She has specialised in construction and commercial disputes including those arising under EPC contracts, procurement and security agreements, joint ventures and related supply and finance agreements for major international projects.
