Irene is general counsel at Deminor Litigation Funding for Greater China and South East Asia based in Hong Kong. Irene has over 15 years of experience in complex commercial litigation, arbitration and financial regulatory work. Irene is qualified in both Hong Kong and England, and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Irene is also a part-time lecturer at the City University of Hong Kong.

Irene’s role at Deminor focuses on finding and assessing new litigation funding opportunities in Hong Kong, mainland China and South East Asia; working with clients and law firms on funded cases; and actively participating in the development of Deminor’s activities in the region.

Prior to joining Deminor, Irene had experience working at two international law firms and as in-house legal counsel of an investment bank.

Jacky is an associate in the disputes resolution team in the Hong Kong office of Kirkland & Ellis. He has significant experience of conducting international arbitration, arbitration-related litigation, commercial litigation and usual interim application, including emergency arbitration, injunction and security for costs application, etc. These matters include substantial international arbitration under the major institutional rules, including ICSID, HKIAC and ICC involving jurisdictions including Hong Kong, the PRC, the UK, India, Japan, Pakistan and the USA. Clients include States, financial institutions, private equity funds, liquidators and multi-national corporates.

He is currently one of the Editorial Assistants for the Asian Dispute Review and regularly writes on dispute resolution. He is qualified in Hong Kong and is trilingual in English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.

With over 12 years of post-qualification experience, Joffrey has worked on various cases, including cross-border insolvency cases, assisting court experts in providing expert evidence and assisting courts in considering the need for modification to schemes of arrangement concerning the distribution of assets in specie.

Kitty Zheng is an associate in Shearman & Sterling’s International Arbitration Group. She frequently acts as counsel in commercial disputes and investment treaty arbitrations, including proceedings conducted under the auspices of the HKIAC, ICC and ICSID. Her experience includes disputes related to energy, construction, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and investment funds. She also represents parties in arbitration-related court proceedings as well as dispute review board procedures. Kitty receives her J.D. degree from New York University and is qualified in New York.

Lau Chee Chong is an Investment Manager and Legal Counsel in the Singapore office of Omni Bridgeway. His work involves the strategic management of third party funded cases (litigation and arbitration), with a particular focus in the enforcement of court judgments and arbitration awards. In the last few years, his primary focus has been on the recovery of claims/judgments/awards in the Asia-Pacific region (particularly in Greater China and South East Asia). Prior to joining Omni Bridgeway, Chee Chong worked at two law firms in Singapore as a disputes lawyer, and has disputes experience of more than 10 years. In those roles, Chee Chong accumulated experience in a variety of local and cross-border commercial disputes, including work related to the enforcement of court judgments and arbitration awards.

Sylvia Tee is a Counsel in Ashurst's international arbitration team. Sylvia is a tri-qualified, bilingual commercial arbitration and litigation practitioner who has acted in cases involving a variety of industries, with a particular focus on multi-jurisdictional proceedings in the financial services, infrastructure and resources sectors. She has experience making submissions and conducting cross-examinations in multiple dispute resolution fora, including court, arbitration and expert determination proceedings.
Sylvia is recognised as a specialist in the field of international arbitration. Besides having advised on and acted in arbitration proceedings conducted under a variety of procedural rules including those of the ICC, HKIAC, SIAC, ACICA, AAA and UNCITRAL, Sylvia has also been a regional director at the ICC and worked on Singapore’s 2012 amendment of its International Arbitration Act and Arbitration Act while seconded to the Singapore Ministry of Law. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is regularly invited to speak on arbitration-related topics in conferences and workshops around the world. She currently represents Hong Kong as a delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and sits on its Task Force on Disability Inclusion and International Arbitration.

Tara was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 2015. Practising from Denis Chang’s Chambers, she appears regularly in the Court of Appeal and the High Court in commercial, company, insolvency and cross-border disputes and in HKIAC hearings. She sat as a Deputy District Judge in June 2021. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Bar, she was a solicitor in an international law firm specialising in commercial litigation and regulatory matters. She holds a bachelor degree in PRC laws from Peking University and passed the PRC National Judicial Examination.
