Eric is Deputy Secretary-General at HKIAC.

Prior to joining the HKIAC, Eric worked for several years as a barrister-at-law in Hong Kong focusing primarily on international commercial and construction arbitrations, as well as general commercial litigation in Hong Kong, and has worked as counsel as well as tribunal secretary for several major international commercial, construction, and financial arbitrations around the world.

In addition to his work as a barrister, Eric was previously Adjunct Professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, lecturing in advocacy and investor-state arbitration. He has also lectured at Tsinghua University and Peking University. Eric has also published on issues of international dispute resolution and investor-state arbitration.

Eric holds a BCL from Oxford University, PCLL and JD from City University of Hong Kong, MSc E-commerce from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a BS in Business Administration and Information Systems from Babson College in the USA. He is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong.

Chang Gi Chung is the Development Director at Corio Generation leading 2.6GW floating/fixed-bottom offshore wind development portfolio in Korea.

Professor Hong-Sik (Justin) Chung is an accomplished law professor in Korea with extensive practical experience in both common law and civil law systems. He excels not only in advising on diverse cross-border transactional matters like construction, energy, M&A, joint ventures, technology, distribution, agency, and sale of goods, among others, but also as an international arbitrator, having presided over various international arbitration cases, including those administered by ICC and KCAB INTERNATIONAL, in the above referenced matters.

Justin earned his J.D. degree in the United States as a foreign student after completing a Master's degree in political science in Korea. Thereafter, he gained valuable experience working with prominent U.S.-based law firms, focusing on commercial litigation, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. His transition to academia occurred in 2006 when he joined Chung-Ang University School of Law as a full-time law professor.

His academic and practical blend enables Professor Chung to teach international business and investment law, international arbitration, and private international law. He directs his research towards those subjects, particularly construction, energy, project development, PPP, renewable energy, etc. comparing these subjects within common law and civil law systems, including Korean law.

In a significant stride, Justin established the Korean Society on International Construction & Energy Law in 2013, an organization for which he presently holds the position of President. This esteemed society boasts a membership exceeding 700 professionals hailing from the construction, project development, energy, and finance sectors, as well as legal practitioners from major domestic and international firms in Korea. His prolific contributions to this field are underscored by numerous published books and articles. Consequently, he has ascended to the position of a preeminent authority in these domains within Korea, becoming the go-to figure for matters pertaining to arbitration within these spheres.

Notably, he holds positions as a panel arbitrator with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and KCAB International, along with serving as a panel conciliator with the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Sae Youn Kim is a senior member of the International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice of Kim & Chang.

Ms. Kim practices primarily in the areas of international litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on commercial and international law.

Before joining Kim & Chang, she served as a judge at various Korean district courts, and practiced as a key member in major Korean law firms. Ms. Kim also sits as an arbitrator. Her expertise in international dispute resolution has been recognized by the variety of roles she holds and held in various institutions, including but not limited to a Commissioner of the Korea Trade Commission, a Vice-Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, a Co-Chair of the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, and a Court member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. She is regularly selected as a leading lawyer by publications such as Chambers Global, Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500, and Asialaw.

She has co-authored various publications on several aspects of Korean law, including commercial litigation, arbitration, investment arbitration, construction, and privilege. She also speaks regularly in conferences organized by the International Bar Association, Inter Pacific Bar Association, and various arbitral institutions across the world. Besides being regularly selected as leading lawyer, she was also awarded Commended Counsel by ASIAN-MENA COUNSEL in 2016 and Woman Lawyer of the Year, by ALB Korea Law Awards in 2018.

Ms. Kim received an LL.M. from Duke University Law School in 2007, and her LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 1991. She graduated the Judicial Training and Research Institute by the Supreme Court of Korea in 1994. She speaks and practices in both Korean and English.

Joo Hee advises Korean and Asian corporates, banks and Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) on multi-source project finance and project development, both in Korea and internationally.

At various times, Joo Hee has completed a number of successful secondments. These include secondments to:

Royal Bank of Scotland in Hong Kong for four months in 2009, advising on the bank’s divestment programme.

Korea National Oil Company in 2011, in the company’s legal department.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), for seven months in 2015.

Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE) for two days a week over a period of six months in 2016, in the company’s project finance department.
