Brooke is a Principal at Lipman Karas. She is a commercial litigator with experience in a broad range of disputes involving or arising out of shareholder claims, joint ventures, commercial agreements, major infrastructure, construction and engineering projects, fraud and insolvency. Her experience includes disputes resolved through litigation and arbitration. She has advised and represented clients with respect to ad hoc arbitrations and arbitrations under various institutional rules, including HKIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL, CIETAC and SIAC.

Brooke is Co-Chair of WILHK, having served on the Committee since inception. She has lived and worked in Hong Kong for over a decade, since relocating from Brisbane, Australia in 2005. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, Queensland, Australia and England & Wales.

Andrew is head of international arbitration Greater China. He is an expert in dispute resolution and a specialist in marine, offshore energy and international trade matters. He has extensive experience in arbitration, litigation and mediation in London and Hong Kong.

Andrew has particular experience in:

Insolvency and maritime law including the conflict between in rem and insolvency claims for example: acting for (1) over 30 shipowners in relation to the liquidation of OW Bunkers; (2) syndicated lenders to Hanjin on the enforcement of ship finance facilities, and (3) various banks in enforcing their rights under trade finance facilities following the insolvency of their customers.

Jurisdiction disputes and in obtaining injunctions in support of litigation and arbitration. He acted for CSAV in the leading HK case of CSAV v Hin Pro regarding Mareva injunctions in support of foreign proceedings.

Shipping disputes: advising and representing various shipowners in relation to disputes arising under bareboat, time and voyage charters, including repossession of vessels, early redelivery, speed and performance, unseaworthiness, uncargoworthiness, groundings, detentions and liens.

Offshore and energy matters: disputes arising from the carriage of crude oil and LPG, drafting and negotiating building contracts for LNG powered vessels, drafting and negotiating long term LNG charters and LNG tonnage agreements, disputes regarding the construction of LNG vessels, disputes arising from the operation of drilling rigs, drafting and negotiating contracts for the construction of semi-submersibles, drafting and negotiating FPSO EPIC contracts.

Andrew speaks Russian and French and has experience living and working in Francophone Africa, France and Russia. He frequently acts in matters involving these jurisdictions.

He is the D&I Officer at Stephenson Harwood Hong Kong and a member of the D&I Committee (with oversight of LGBTQI). He is also one of the Male Allies under the TWF programme.

Stephanie Sheng is a senior legal director and head of the APAC Business Intelligence Group at Goldman Sachs. She manages a team advising regional investment banking, merchant banking and global markets divisions on reputational risk issues, including anticorruption, AML and economic sanctions regulations across a range of corporate transactions. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Stephanie was counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, specializing in US securities laws, capital markets, M&A and FCPA investigations across Silicon Valley, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Stephanie is a founding member of Women in Law Hong Kong (WILHK), and championed the inaugural mentoring program. She served as WILHK Chair from 2017-2020, and is currently a member of WILHK’s advisory board.

Annie Tang is a qualified solicitor (non-practising) and the co-founder/co-Managing Director of Star Anise Legal, a company that specialises in legal and corporate governance recruitment across all industries. Prior to setting up her own recruitment firm, Annie practiced law for a few years with leading international law firms in Hong Kong. Currently, in addition to specialising in senior level in-house legal recruitment, Annie manages a team and looks after the strategic and operational matters at Star Anise Legal.

Briana has over 15 years' experience in international arbitration, first as counsel and now as a foreign legal consultant and professional support consultant in Herbert Smith Freehills' Greater China international arbitration team. She is also an experienced tribunal secretary, and sits as arbitrator.

Based in Hong Kong, Briana is a senior member of the Herbert Smith Freehills team and an expert in international arbitration law and procedure. She speaks and teaches on a range of arbitration topics, as well as writing articles, legal briefings and other publications.

Briana is Vice Chair of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, and a member of the committee responsible for drafting the HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules 2013 and 2018.

She is a member of the Editorial Boards of Practical Law and Practical Law China.

Briana co-chairs the Hong Kong Law Reform Commission's sub-committee on outcome-related fee structures in arbitration.

She also co-chaired HKIAC’s Task Force on Third Party Funding in Arbitration, and writes and speaks frequently on arbitration funding.

Jennifer Wu is a Senior Associate at Pinsent Masons, specialising in commercial disputes and international arbitration. She has a particular focus on cross border cyber, technology and data governance related issues, protecting systems, software and information held online for businesses. She has acted as the lead advisor for many trusted international and local clients and has been commended for her straight forward and strategic advice, whether acting for the Claimant or Respondent. Jennifer is well recognised in the international arbitration space. She is an active member of the HK45 Committee and the CIArb EAB Young Members Group. Outside of law, Jennifer champions equality and drives inclusive leadership. She has been appointed to head up two diversity and inclusion sub-committees in Hong Kong since 2020, in Women in Law Hong Kong and CIArb EAB Young Members Group. Janice is a real estate investment lawyer, most recently of counsel at DLA Piper. She has experience in all aspects of property transactions, having advised investment funds, asset managers, hospitality and retail brands, mall operators and family offices. She has recently accepted a position as partner in another firm, where she is due to start in February.

Janice is a WILHK committee member and has been actively promoting gender equity and diversity and inclusion both within her workplace and the wider legal community. For the past 10 years, she managed the CSR programme for DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office and has been supporting a number of charities and NGOs pro bono. She has three young children.
