Overview

The Campaign for Greener Arbitrations is an initiative to reduce the environmental impact of international arbitrations. A dedicated Working Group began work on a set of protocols in mid-2020 and considered all aspects of international arbitration. In doing so they identified a number of areas where each stakeholder could significantly improve behaviours to reduce their environmental footprint.

Six Protocols and a Framework have been drafted addressing the various activities carried out by the arbitration community. A series of workshops will be conducted to gather stakeholder feedback. As a member of the Steering Committee, HKIAC is pleased to host the Asia-Pacific workshop.

At the workshops, Steering Committee members will moderate discussions and request feedback.

Arbitrators, counsel, corporates, institutions, hearing venue providers, and other members of the community will be invited to share their views on the protocols and framework.

Participants will be assigned to breakout rooms based on their areas of interest indicated during registration. Seats for each breakout room are limited. We ask that participants review the relevant protocols and framework prior to attending the workshop.

We also welcome written feedback by email to protocols@greenerarbitrations.com or events@hkiac.org by 15 March 2021.
