Option 1: What controls, if any, should be placed on the use of technology and artificial intelligence in international arbitration?
Option 2: What is the preferred approach to determining the governing law of an arbitration agreement?
Option 3: Does the New York Convention remain effective in the evolving global landscape and to what extent should it be modernized, if at all?

If your country or territory is not included in this list, please email us with the name of your country or territory and your CV to confirm whether your submission will be considered in the Asia Emerging Economies Category or Global Category. Participants from Asia Emerging Economies who have had significant arbitration experience in developed jurisdictions will be considered under the Global Category.
While the use of AI-enhanced support tools is not prohibited, all work should be original, and plagiarism will result in disqualification. Essays submitted without the AI Declaration will not be accepted for consideration. We do not currently accept co-authorship. Judges' decisions will be final.
Participants must be under 45 years old, and members of HK45.
HK45 is a group for young arbitration practitioners in Hong Kong and beyond formed under the auspices of the HKIAC. Our aims are to promote interest in and knowledge of issues relating to arbitration, and to provide opportunities for both professional development and social interaction.
