Ulrich Schroeter is Professor of Law at the University of Basel (Switzerland). He has published extensively in the fields of contract law, international trade law, arbitration, treaty law, commercial law and financial markets regulation. Ulrich´s research has been cited by courts worldwide including in Australia, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States of America as well as by Advocates General at the European Court of Justice.
One area of focus for Ulrich’s research is the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention (CISG). He is the co-editor of Schlechtriem & Schwenzer: Commentary on the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) (Oxford University Press, 5th ed. forthcoming 2022) and has written the leading German textbook on the CISG (Schroeter, Internationales UN-Kaufrecht, Mohr Siebeck, 7th ed. forthcoming 2022). Ulrich serves as the national correspondent for Switzerland to the United Nations Commission for International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) for the CISG and is a member of the CISG Advisory Council. He regularly advises on CISG matters.
Ulrich was educated at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (Germany) and the University of Lausanne (Switzerland). He received his Doctor iuris from the Freie Universität Berlin.

Stella Hu specialises in international commercial arbitration and China-related dispute resolution; has experience in resolving complex commercial disputes between Chinese and foreign parties in sectors including oil and gas, international sales of goods, M&A, joint venture, financial investment and hotel management. She has represented clients in HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, LCIA, SCC and CIETAC arbitrations in both English and Chinese language proceedings. In 2020, she was recoganised by Legal 500 Asia as Rising Star in China Dispute Resolution. Who’s Who Legal named her Future Leaders of International Arbitration in 2020 and 2021. She is also an arbitrator under the the HKIAC List of Arbitrators.

Eric Ng is Managing Counsel at the HKIAC. Prior to joining the HKIAC, Eric worked for five years as a barrister-at-law in Hong Kong focusing primarily on international commercial and construction arbitrations, as well as general commercial litigation in Hong Kong, and has worked as counsel as well as tribunal secretary in several major international commercial, construction, and financial arbitrations seated around the world. In addition to his work as a barrister, Eric was previously Adjunct Professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, lecturing in advocacy and investor-state arbitration. Eric has also published on issues of international dispute resolution and investor-state arbitration. Eric holds a BCL from Oxford University, PCLL and JD from City University from Hong Kong, MSc E-commerce from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a BS in Business Administration and Information Systems from Babson College in the USA. He is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong.

Cherry Xu obtained her LLB degree from the University of Hong Kong with First Class Honours, ranking top of her year. Having been elected as the Rhodes Scholar for Hong Kong in 2013, she furthered her legal education at Oxford University and graduated from the BCL degree with a distinction in competition law in 2014. Cherry is developing a broad practice in civil and commercial law with a particular focus on commercial, company, securities, insolvency and competition matters. She is also regularly instructed to act as counsel in arbitrations and related court applications. She has dealt with various arbitration cases in the HKIAC, SIAC and LCIA. She is often involved cross-border cases and has been regularly instructed to represent Chinese clients in cross-border litigation and international arbitration. She is experienced in securities and competition matters and is regularly instructed to appear as counsel and/or provide legal opinion in related matters. In 2021, Cherry was recognised by Legal 500 as a Rising Star in commercial dispute resolution. Cherry is a Committee Member of the Mainland Affairs Committee and the Competition Law Committee of the Hong Kong Bar Association. She has been a lecturer for the International Commercial Arbitration / International Commercial Dispute Resolution course at Peking University since 2017. She also regularly gives lectures and seminars on international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution.

Tara Liao is a barrister practicing from Denis Chang’s Chambers. She appears regularly in the Court of Appeal, the High Court and in arbitrations with a focus on commercial injunctions, company, civil fraud, trust and cross-border disputes. She was recognised by Legal 500 as a leading junior in commercial dispute resolution in 2021 and 2022. She is a member of the HK45 Committee.
