Overviews

After a three-year hiatus, HK45 is delighted to announce the return of in-person Fireside Chats! This season will begin with Sir Bernard Rix. This event is sponsored by Berkeley Research Group.

Sir Bernard was appointed to the High Court of England & Wales in 1993 and proceeded to oversee the implementation of the Woolf Reforms (equivalent to the CJR) in the Commercial Court. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal of England & Wales in 2000 where he sat for 13 years. In 2013, he was appointed to the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal, where he sat for a further 10 years before retiring in December 2022. He remains an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court and a Professor of International Commercial Law at Queen Mary, University of London, but now spends much of this time sitting as an arbitrator, mediator and expert witness.

Please join us on 18 May 2023 for the first in this series of Fireside Chats where Sir Bernard will share a few highlights of his career and lessons learned, followed by networking drinks and an opportunity to meet Sir Bernard himself!
