Overview

Dame Elizabeth Gloster was called to the bar in 1971 and took silk in 1989. She was in full time practice at the Commercial and Chancery Bars for more than 30 years before she accepted an appointment to become an English High Court judge in 2004. Subsequently, she was appointed to the Court of Appeal and the Privy Council.  Since her retirement from the Court of Appeal, Dame Elizabeth has become a full-time international arbitrator and is regularly appointed in both investor-treaty and commercial matters. She has been appointed both as chair and co-arbitrators in a wide range of matters covering insurance, shipping, banking, oil and gas, construction, and shareholder disputes. In 2023, she was named Senior Arbitrator of the Year.
