Mariel is Secretary-General of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. She is an international commercial and investment arbitration specialist.

Prior to joining the HKIAC, Mariel was a Partner at CMS and Co-Head of the global CMS International Arbitration Group. She has over 15 years' experience acting as adviser and advocate in numerous international arbitrations. She has extensive experience in both common law and civil law disputes, including disputes involving Chinese parties, and has full professional fluency in German. She also sits regularly as arbitrator and has experience as arbitrator under the HKIAC, ICC, KCAB, and DIS Rules, and in ad hoc disputes. She is on the arbitrator panels of several institutions.

She is a past co-chair of the HK45 Committee, and a member of the WILHK Advisory Board. She is consistently ranked in both the regional and global editions of the leading legal directories.

Professor Kim is Professor of Law at Yonsei Law School in Seoul, Korea. He has published widely on international dispute resolution, international trade and investment, corporate governance and corruption. He was the Founding Executive Director of the Hills Governance Center in Korea and previously held professorship or visiting positions at ESADE, Hongik University, National Law School of India University (Bangalore), National University of Singapore, Keio University and the University of Florida, and was in private practice in Washington, D.C. He presently acts as an Editorial Board Member of International Investment Law and Arbitration, Asian Journal of Comparative Law and Dispute Resolution International and serves on the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, Global Green Growth Institute, Korea-US FTA, and Korea-EU FTA. He received his academic degrees from Columbia (BA), Yonsei (MA) and Georgetown (JD).

Sunyoung Kim is a partner at Lee & Ko’s International Arbitration Team. Ms. Kim acted as counsel in various international arbitration cases brought before the ICC, SIAC and KCAB as well as in ad-hoc arbitrations. Prior to joining Lee & Ko, Ms. Kim gained experience in cross-border joint venture and M&A transactions and its related disputes in Baker & Mckenzie and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Mr. Yoon is a partner at Shin & Kim and a member of the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Mr. Yoon’s practice in international arbitration concentrates on acting as legal counsel in arbitration cases before the ICC, KCAB, HKIAC, LCIA and ICSID, as well as in ad-hoc arbitration under the UNCITRAL rules.

Mr. Yoon has also worked closely with and has provided legal services to diverse domestic and international clients in a number of complex transactions and participated in a wide variety of matters, such as cross border financing and investment transactions involving private equity, project finance, real estate and aircraft financing, SOC financing, energy and resources. In addition, armed with a business administration degree and a concentration on finance, Mr. Yoon is a CFA charterholder and has applied such financial acumen to his legal practice, successfully defending several disputes over complex state-of-the-art structured finance instruments or derivatives.
