This Workshop is organised by Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited ("HKMC") - a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
Many mediators do not have the time and space to continuously polish their mediation skills after their certification. This workshop organised by the General Mediation Division of HKMC provides you with a role play opportunity for mediators (especially those who has done less than 5 cases). We use the term "jamming" because different role plays will have different outcomes and dynamics based on the chemistry of the mediators and party members. The "jamming" space allows participants to experiment, experience, and understand mediation from different perspectives.
Participants will join different small teams of 5: each team will have 2 mediators, 2 disputing parties and an experienced mediation Coach. At the end of the roleplay, the Coaches will provide practical tips that can help participant mediators maximise the value of the mediation process.
The Workshop will be held face-to-face in Cantonese, at Room 903, 9/F, AIA Hong Kong Tower, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.

Beginla Yue
Coach
Ms. Yue serves as a Co-Chairperson of the General Mediation Division of HKMC under HKIAC. She was a Council Member of HKMC (2019-2021). She is an Accredited General Mediator of HKIAC and HKMAAL and also an Accredited Family Mediator of HKMAAL. She is a Panel Mediator of HAD, JMHO, FDRC, Lands Tribunal - Building Management Mediation Coordinator's Office, and Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Centre. She is a coach of HKMAAL 40-Hour Mediation Training Course, mentor mediator for JMHO, and coach and judge for various mediation trainings and competitions. Beginla has solid experience in coaching, conducting and teaching mediation.
Jacky Lai
Coach
Mr. Lai is a practicing mediator and barrister. He is on the list of mediators in institutions such as FDRC, HKIAC and HKMAAL etc. Mr. Lai has served as a mediator in hundreds of cases. He has a wealth of teaching, coaching and judging experiences with many universities in Hong Kong with particular emphasis on Mediation and ADR. He is Head Trainer and Chief Assessor of mediation course for Training Qualifications UK, Office of Qualifications and Examination Assessment (TQUK/ Ofqual) and Assistant Head Trainer of HKMAAL 40-hour curriculum, Mediation Subject Expert of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications and International Mediation Competition Coach and Judge of International Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Lai has been a member of the HKIAC Users’ Council since 2009. He is currently the Chairperson of General Mediation Division (GMD) of Hong Kong Mediation Council (HKMC) under the HKIAC.
Mac Chan
Coach
Mr. Chan is a director of the HKMCL and the Co-chairperson of General Mediation Division of the HKMCL. Mac is a practising solicitor admitted in Hong Kong, HKMAAL Accredited General and Family mediator and a parenting coordinator. Mac has been involved in numerous mediation and negotiation sessions, both as mediator and advocate. He is also a mediator trainer and coach.
Timothy Chan
Coach
Mr. Chan was the Honorary Secretary of General Mediation Interest Group of the Hong Kong Mediation Council under the HKIAC. He is a member of General Mediation Division of the Hong Kong Mediation Council under the HKIAC. He is a practising mediator. He is an accredited General Mediator of the FDRC, HKIAC, and HKMAAL. He is the Mentor Mediator of the JMHO under the Mediator Mentorship Scheme. He is a coach of the HKMAAL 40-hour course. He served as trainer or instructor in various mediation trainings. He promotes the use of mediation in all aspects.
Justin Tse
Coach
Mr. Tse has over 20 years training experience with expertise in mediation, project management and knowledge management. He obtained his MSc degree in Knowledge Management (Distinction) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2008 and become an accredited mediator in HKMAAL since 2013. He served as coach and assisted learners in different HKMAAL accredited course in the past ten years and delivered various mediation training including EdUHK students. He served as Mentor Mediator in Joint Mediation Helpline Office under the Mediator Mentorship Scheme and as a guest speaker in the radio programme “Sorry I Love You” organized by MetroInfo to introduce mediation to the public in year 2020. Currently he is the part-teacher in HKUSPACE and delivers the module “Behavioural Approach to Conflict Resolution and Negotiation” for the course “Postgraduate Diploma in HRM and Business Psychology”.
Helen Keung
Facilitator
Ms. Keung is a member of the General Mediation Group under HKMC of HKIAC since 2019. She was an Accredited Mediator with Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in 2012 and Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) in 2014. She was the co-mediator for environmental related cases and was a speaker at various mediation workshops and seminars.
Ms Keung is also a certified Soft Skills Trainer on effective communications and negotiations. She conducts trainings throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States. She has trained, coached, and inspired thousands of adult professionals in the past 15+ years through tailor-made trainings for specific audiences. Being passionate in developing people, she believes that “Adults learn by experience, practice, and reflection. Through facilitation and coaching can they be trained to think and communicate more effectively.” She has over 15+ years of commercial experience in finance and sustainability, including equity research in investment bank, client portfolio manager in asset management, and economic policies in environmental consultancy.
