Mediation has a long history of development in China and has played a significant role in China's dispute resolution process with different kinds of mediation available both inside and outside the legal system. At the Second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Legal Departments Joint Conference in December 2020, a proposal was endorsed to foster joint-efforts towards the formation of a Greater Bay Area Mediation Platform with a view to promoting the greater use of mediation in the Greater Bay Area.
The Hong Kong Mediation Council is delighted to have invited a veteran legal and dispute resolution practitioner to update Mediators and Members with the latest state of mediation practice in Mainland China, and how to attain mediation qualification in China from the relevant authorities.
The event will be a Zoom Webinar conducted in English, and will cover the following topics:

Stanley will be the Moderator of this Webinar.
Stanley is a Solicitor admitted in the High Court of Hong Kong SAR. He is also a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a Chartered Construction Manager and an Accredited NEC4 Project Manager. Stanley is a Consultant (資深顧問律師) of Deacons. Stanley has over 35 years of experience on resolution of construction contract disputes and has worked for reputable developers, consultants and contractors on building, heavy civil engineering, railway and other infrastructure projects. These construction projects are scattered in Hong Kong, Macau, China, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. Stanley specialises in construction law, contract administration, project management, tendering strategies, Public–Private Partnerships and resolution of construction disputes through mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation. Stanley also advises on the use of NEC contracts. Stanley is currently the Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Mediation Council (HKMC) since July 2020 and he was the Chairman of the Construction Mediation Group of HKMC in 2015-2016 and 2019-2020.
