The Hong Kong Mediation Council (HKMC) intends to host a series of webinars entitled "Mediation Insight Series" in order to update the knowledge of mediators and hone their practical skills. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the seminars will not be held physically but conducted online via ZOOM. This is the Eighth seminar which will highlight the PRC mediation, in particular, the experience sharing by the speaker on PRC mediation cases. It is expected to last 60 mins (including a Q&A session of 15mins) without a break.


Topics to be covered or shared by speakers include:

  1. How the speaker became an appointed mediator of a mainland court. Subsequent appointments. Appointment certificates.
  2. Experience sharing on how mediation appointments are made and comparing them between two courts, namely the Dongguan Peoples' Court No. 2 and the Qianhai Cooperative Zone Court.
  3. The mediation process.
  4. Drafting settlement agreements.
  5. Evaluations after the mediation; and
  6. Remuneration and rewards received.


This Webinar will run in Cantonese from 12:30pm to 01:45pm on 30 March 2021 (Tuesday), and targets General Mediators and Legal Practitioners including In-House Counsel.


In order to ensure that participants meet CPD requirements, the lunchtime webinar includes a quiz at the end on the content of the talk.

    Winston is commercial mediator accredited by CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, London), general mediator accredited by Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong Mediation Centre, and CEDR trained mediator assessor. He is a Coach U graduate. Winston has a passion in doing and teaching mediation, and coaching people to excel. His particular strength is in negotiation as he has always been a deal-maker in his past working experience and in everyday life. He likes to think out-of-the-box and to create win-win solutions.

    Winston is a mediation practioner, trainer, coach and assessor for various mediation programmes.

    Winston gained his EMBA from HKUST-Kellogg. He holds an additional two Master Degrees, a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Certified Project Manager from Stanford University. Winston was in senior management in private and public companies involved in real estate development, construction, investments, real estate brokerage, management consulting before he becoming a mediator.

    Winston is the current Chair of the Hong Kong Mediation Council.
