Overview

HK45 is delighted to host the Honourable Mr. Justice Coleman at its next Supper Club on Friday, 19 August 2022 in Hong Kong. This event will be the second in a series of HK's Supper Clubs and is sponsored by Burford Capital.

 

We welcome all junior law professionals, or those otherwise interested in arbitration, to apply. Law firm employees must be non-partners with less than 10 PQE. We expect the dinner to be an exclusive and informal opportunity to gather with peers, including lawyers and other arbitration specialists. Chatham House rules apply. The cost of the dinner is HKD 250, generously subsidised by Burford Capital. We will request payment and confirm the venue when we confirm your participation.

 

The Honourable Mr Justice Coleman

The Honourable Mr Justice Coleman was born in the UK and called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1986. He moved to Hong Kong in 1990 and was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1991, where he took silk in 2006. While at the Bar he enjoyed a broad commercial practice, including frequent appointments as arbitrator, and acted as Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and sat as a Member of the Inland Revenue Board of Review. 

 

After serving as a Deputy Judge from 2010 – 2012 and as a Recorder from 2013 – 2019, he was appointed as a Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court on 2 April 2019. In 2021, he was made the Judge in charge of the Constitutional and Administrative Law List.
