Elizabeth Chan (陳曉彤) is an Associate at Allen & Overy, specialising in international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration. Currently based in Hong Kong, Elizabeth has also practised in London and New York. She has represented both investors and foreign governments in arbitrations under many major arbitral rules (including ICC, LCIA, ICDR, ICSID and UNCITRAL), seated in many major arbitral seats (including The Hague, Singapore, London, Geneva, Austria and Washington, DC). She is ranked as a Future Leader of Who’s Who Legal – Arbitration 2022. She obtained her LLM from Yale Law School as a Fulbright Scholar. She is admitted as a Solicitor-Advocate in England and Wales, a New York attorney and a New Zealand barrister/solicitor (non-practising). She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Elizabeth is also a Board Member of ArbitralWomen and a Member of the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge Young Practitioners’ Subcommittee.

Jörn is a Senior Vice President with responsibility for Burford’s litigation finance activities in Europe and Asia. He leads Burford’s investment arm in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and specializes in assessing, underwriting and managing arbitration, antitrust and commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining Burford, Jörn practiced international commercial arbitration and litigation at Herbert Smith Freehills in Hong Kong and at Schellenberg Wittmer in Zurich. Qualified in Switzerland, Jörn read law as a Chancellor Adenauer Scholar at the universities of Freiburg, Liverpool, Marburg and Passau, graduating with the German Staatsexamen, an LLM in European law (Dean’s Prize Scholar), and a doctorate in public international law. He also holds an MA from the War Studies Department at King’s College London.

Olivia Furter is Co-Head of Switzerland, France & Benelux. Before joining Nivalion, Olivia worked for several years as an attorney in the dispute resolution and private clients teams of the internationally oriented law firm Schellenberg Wittmer where she gained extensive experience in state court litigation and international arbitration. In addition, she has been a teaching assistant in private law at the University of St. Gallen since 2013. Olivia Furter holds law degrees from King’s College London (LL.M.) and the University of St. Gallen (M.A. HSG in Law and Economics). She speaks German and English.

Lucas Macedo is Case Manager at Nivalion. He was an in-house attorney for several years with multinational groups (AES and ENEL) in the Latin American energy sector, handling complex litigation and arbitration, as well as regulatory affairs. Previously, Lucas acted in law firms in Brazil (BNI Advogados) and Germany (Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP). Lucas is admitted to the Brazilian and Portuguese Bar, holds a law degree from the State University of Londrina, a specialization in Civil Procedure from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (top of the class), and an LL.M in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement from SciencesPo Paris (cum laude). Lucas speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and German.

Olga is an international arbitration lawyer with a dual background in civil and common law. She is also a lecturer and an author, passionate about sharing knowledge, supporting young professionals, and committed to promoting diversity in the legal profession. Olga is currently based in Frankfurt with Freshfields. She advises clients from various sectors in commercial and investment arbitration disputes and has experience in complex cross-border disputes, including mass proceedings and arbitration-related litigation.

Emily Tillett is a Vice President at Burford with responsibility for leading its investment activity and operations in Hong Kong. A Hong Kong, Australian and New Zealand qualified lawyer, Ms. Tillett has multijurisdictional expertise in complex commercial disputes.

Prior to joining Burford, Ms. Tillett was Of Counsel at Allen & Overy in Hong Kong, where she focused on representing clients in litigation, regulatory investigations and arbitration, including contentious insolvency and fraud matters. She began her career with Minter Ellison lawyers and has since advised and acted for corporate and individual clients, including corporations, investment banks, financial services and brokerage firms and professional service providers, on high value, complex disputes in a variety of sectors.

Ms. Tillett earned her law degree with first class honors together with her degree in Arts (Psychology) from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
