Aimed at law school students at Shanghai-based universities who are interested in arbitration, this event will provide details on why parties choose to arbitrate in Hong Kong, and in particular why parties use HKIAC as the arbitral institution.

Lei Shi (Partner at Clifford Chance)

Lei Shi's practice focuses on China-related dispute resolution matters, including international arbitration, regulatory compliance and investigation, and commercial litigation.

In the arbitration area, Lei has over 12 years of experiences as counsel in arbitration under HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, CIETAC, LCIA, SCC, AAA and UNCITRAL Rules in relation to M&A, private equity, banking, technology, real property and other commercial disputes.

In the regulatory area, Lei advises clients in daily compliance, due diligence, internal investigation and government investigation in the areas of anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions and export control.

Lei has worked at our Hong Kong and New York offices. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, he practised at a leading PRC firm for three years.

Wei Sun (Partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm)

Mr. Sun is a renowned dispute resolution lawyer whose expertise includes corporate equity, finance, construction, real estate, and international sale of goods. He has extensive experience in providing legal services to both domestic and multinational enterprises on local and international matters. He frequently acts as presiding, sole, or party-appointed arbitrator before CIETAC and arbitration institutions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Yanhua Lin (Partner at Fangda Partners)

Ms. Lin specializes in areas of arbitration, litigation, dispute resolution and compliance.

As a partner at Fangda, Lin has represented a PRC investor in ICC arbitration in Hong Kong in relation to a US$100 million dispute arising from a share purchase agreement and in ancillary court proceedings relating to injunctive orders.

She has also represented several European clients, in relation to the enforcement of an ICC arbitral award in China, a groundbreaking case in which China's Supreme People's Court for the first time invoked the "public policy ground" under the New York Convention to refuse enforcement of a foreign arbitral award.

Furthermore, Ms. Lin has advised the "Big 4" accounting firms in connection with administrative proceedings initiated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and various matters concerning cross-border regulatory investigation.

Ms. Lin is also an expert in transnational compliance. She has advised several China-based U.S. listed companies in relation to investigations initiated by U.S. regulators. She also provides valuable input to foreign companies in China on matters related to state secrecy, data privacy and cross-border data production.

Yan Zhang (Partner at Sidley Austin LLP)

Ms. Yan Zhang is a highly skilled lawyer with experience in both adversarial and transactional matters. She represents clients from a broad range of sectors.
